Yes, I thought of this workaround - I'd even considered making the other zone files simply a shell file with an "include" line for the master, that way if I changed the master device file, all the others would change.

The slinke sends the port as part of the device string if it doesn't recognize the device (Watch as the first few events come in after starting CDJ - they have the slink port) Also, IR commands that are unassociated with a device are sent with the IR port.

Perhaps I'll stop using device files for that series of commands and do a lookup myself...
