I aslo see the point, but just wanted to point out that you can do this right now.

What you basically have to do is "connect" a device (file) per IR port (zone).

So for instance you can have SonyIR1 connected to IR-Port 1, SonyIR2 to port 2 and so on. The Device Event will tell you which Device, and so which port, the IR message was received....
