They latest Sony DSS boxes A50 & B50 don't seem to support discrete power commands. I don't have either one, but that seems to be the word in the forums at RemoteCentral and ProntoEdit. I've got a Sony A2 and it doesn't support it either. I need to check with Barry Gordon, if I remember correctly he's controlling his Sony DSS through the serial port. I've found some documentation for this online, but if he has official documents I'd rather get the info from him.

If you are using a 3 or 4 series let me know and I can get those codes for you. If you aren't you could use the same solution that I've settled on: I leave it on all the time. I don't think it draws any more power when its on. If the receiver can get mail while its off its obviously not completely off.
