I purchased the x-10 49.99 ki, be be aware that you will get hooked and wind up buying a bunch of extra stuff as the kit only teases you with one lamp module. X-10.com has a "Huge Sale" every three or four days, so keep an eye out for the things you really want cause you always get free stuff. My favorite free stuff has been the palm-pads which controls all 16 modules from a palm sized remote. Also be aware that you are going to have to buy light switches (many of them) unless you only want to control your lights by IR which can get anoying to non-gizzmo people who just want to turn on the darn light. On the flip-side it is very cool and I recomend using the computer to control your lights as well since it offers great macro programming that makes life easier.
