Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #9 Re: Programming help neededPosted By: Mike Perry <mperry@a...> In Response To: Programming help needed (Phill Stanton)
I've been thinking about this for awhile, as I recently got a Compaq iPaq Pocket PC. The last I heard, there is no version of DCOM available for the Pocket PC. So, you would not be able to access the Slink server through COM. The only thing I can think of would be to build a server that used sockets and either talk to the slinke directly (bypassing slinkserv, of course this probably means you can't use CDJ at the same time, they would both attempt to access the same serial port) or building a server that used sockets to relay the messages to slinkserv via COM. I fairly certain that using a PC card adapter and a PC card ethernet card you should be able to get on a network and build a simple sockets client that could talk to the server. I actually planned on getting a wireless ethernet PC card and really make the thing mobile, but the cards and the wireless node are still a little expensive, although they seem to be getting cheaper every day.
