Programming help needed

I've started developing Pocket PC CDJ database and cover reader and am making fairly good progress - I've got the database loaded and displayed and am just starting on search functionality. I havent' got much time and the code isn't very elegant yet, but its coming along and I should have something out by the end of next month.

The main problem appears to be getting reasonable performance out of the Pocket PC embedded VB - the database interface is _very_ slow.

I'd like to connect to the Slink-e Server and was wondering whether it would be possible to achieve using a winsock connection to the PC. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, I could do with a some guidance and fairly explicit instructions as I'm a winsock virgin.

Any other suggestions would be most welcome.
