Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #9 Re: Problem with Shuffling PlaylistPosted By: Colby Boles <cboles@n...> In Response To: Re: Problem with Shuffling Playlist (Les Troyer)
I think there is some confusion here: 1. "shuffle" (recycling green arrows) is a button which re-arranges the playlist into a random order. wherever item the playlist pointer was on before the shuffle, it will be on after the shuffle. (that is, shuffle doesn't change what's playing) 2. "random" (? on a page) is a pushbutton which puts the playlist in random mode. random mode put limits on the number of items preceeding the playlist pointer and adds tracks randomly after the playlist pointer to keep a specifed number ahead of the current playing item. these random tracks are chosen from the library as a whole, or from the search results, if any are present. the number of tracks before and after the pointer is determined by View | Options | Random Play bottom line: putting the playlist in random mode cause CDJ to take control of the playlist and modify / add / remove from it as it sees fit. this is not at all the same as shuffling your playlist.
