"look in empty slots and check for missing" certainly is more mechanically involved than say "look in empty slots" because it basically tells the player to go to every disc, but aborts mid-movement once it's sure there is a disc there. Other than that, the feature itself hasn't changed. If you have a newer player (CX220/240/260/300), we will be improving the search down the road so that the player will only need to move a little to discover the status of all 200/300 discs.
