First off if the light is yellow then something is wrong. The 850 doesn't support Control-A1. It will control other control-A1 CD changers using its port but doesn't accept commands itself. I don't know anything about the 7000 but perhaps the port is a Control-S port. The "S-link 0-3" ports on the Slink-e are Control-A1. If you haven't already then try hooking up one device at a time. The crucial test on the cable is if it is shorted. See if there is continuity between tip and ring when it's not plugged in to anything. There shouldn't be.
