if you are willing to spend about $150 then try mondials MAGIC ground isolator at www.mondial.com. Most hum is caused by the CABLE tv coax wire or a DSS cozx wire conected to a component that eventually connects to your receiver. Most of the time you dont hear the hum until you add or remove one component. Some sort of balance is screwed up and you start hearing the HUMMM. Before buying anything, try unplugging all coax cables from your components. Turn the computer on and see if there is still a humm. If the humm disappears then you found your culprit. For a cheap fix I used my "high tech patented solution" of buying 2 75ohm to 300ohm antenna splitter from radio shack then connecting the cable/dss coax to the 75ohm input of splitter A then connecting the 300ohm connector of splitter A to 300ohm connector of splitter B, lastly connecting the 75ohm connector of splitter b to the 75 ohm connector of cable box or dss. I use this solution on a projection TV, DSS, DVD, CD, MD, Parasound THX Amp, 333mhz Celeron PC connected to a Lexicon DC-1 with no noticeable humm.
