Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #6 Networking/DCOMPosted By: Tim Fraley <Tim@p...> Colby, I think we all have been giving some bad info on running CDJ on a network and accessing it from the clients. Most of us only run on a win95/98 microsoft network and you can not use DCOM in the way you said. For one thing you need a Windows NT server to check the logon's cus win 95/98 will not do this. you have to change the user-level access in windows 95/98 before you can even run the dcomcnfg and you cant change that unless you have a domin server to check logons also dcom for win95 does not even support the impersonation setting that we need to change. I guess you and all the other that got it to work have Windows NT running. myself i cant afford to run of and buy this software just for this reason. about $300-$400 to get started! Bottem line is if you are running a network at home with just win 95/98 you will not be able to use CDJ on different PC's and get them to interact. Colby we need a BETTER way to network CDJ, i know it is a free pice of software but i think it is the main selling point for all your other products that you sell. Will you at least look at another way? Tim! Responses To This Message
