Second Changer

I just bought a second CDP-CX300 changer this weekend. Haven't hooked it up yet but have a few questions.

1) Am I better off hooking it up on a second Slink-e port or as a slave to the first changer? Why?

2) If I hook it up separate, can I still run the audio through the first changer and then to my receiver or do I need to use a mixer? (The manual seems to imply not to use the audio inputs if you're not connecting a slave.) Again, why?
