I used to have a motherboard with IrDA support as well... In my search for an answer to this question, the motherboard vendor recommended looking at www.actisys.com. They have a few IrDA devices available both for systems with onboard IrDA support, and those without. Unfortunatly I never bought anything from them, so I can't really give a recommendation, but at least it's a place to look.
