You need to specify the device.
Here is part of my map:
cdjr:pre_startup {} cdjr:startup {rotel:cd} cdjr:using_player[cd1] {} cdjr:using_player[cd2] {} cdjr:using_player[cd3] {} cdjr:using_player[cd4] {} cdjr:using_player[cd5] {} cdjr:using_player[mp3] {} cdjr:vol_up {rotel:vol+} cdjr:vol_down {rotel:vol-} cdjr:mute_on {rotel:mute} cdjr:mute_off {rotel:mute}
rotel.cde is my device file (don't forget to load it into cdj under options)
vol+,vol- etc. are remote codes
