The "Players" tab on the Options dialog box has a checkbox for "Download group names at startup". If checked, this will upload the group names from your CD player to CDJ. I believe that's all the interaction there is. I don't believe that you can download (i.e., from CDJ to the player) group names.
Since I got CDJ, I tend to use the keywords for the same function I used group names before. It's more flexible, but, of course, you must be using the computer to play your CDs vs. being at the CD player.
