Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #5 Re: Advanced Slink-e For Dummies Needed PleasePosted By: Jim Fouch <JimFouch@W...> In Response To: Advanced Slink-e For Dummies Needed Please (Michael Kloss)
I second that motion. I am not a programmer either but when I went back to grad school at UCLA in 1961 I did write a program for a, then obsolete and non functioning, vacuum tube puter in machine language - took a semester to write a program to find the sum of the squares of the first 50 integers. Now in a high level language like AWK or REXX that would probably take about six lines of code - including the I/O. I have read books on 8086 assembly language and C pointers for recreational purposes - the pointers were not for recreation - the reading was :) I coded a few utilities for the BBS that ran for nine years on networked DOS boxes but, the slink-e stuff has me Big Time confused. If I could see a file to make the CDJ volumne contols work on a Sony STRDE925 receiver, I think it would be a big help. I have not yet looked at the X-10 stuff although every light, some speakers, and a few other loads in my house are controlled by X-10 using a Stargate smart controller -- nice box - wretched software btw. Hoping someone can help out the dummies here - I bet there are more of us. Cheers, Jim. PS to Colby - if you could put the online help info in a file that can be printed out instead of printing each page of the help, it sure would be nice.
