Sony DSS IR recevie problem for some commands

I saw a while back some people having problems sending some IR commands to Sony DSS receivers.

I'm having the same problem and was wondering if anyone knew of a solution.

Basically I'm trying to send IR commands for the more advanced functions such as menu, guide, exit etc. For some very strange reason the basic 0-9, up and down controls work fine, but the others don't.

I know the slink port on the unit doesn't handle this, but the IR input should be able to since the remote generates these codes.

Is it something strange like a different carrier frequency?
