STR-G3, IR or SLINK ctrl-able?

I have the Sony STR-G3 receiver, one of the first VisionTouch with
the one button RF remotes. Can it be controled by the SLINK interface
even though its ctrl-A instead of ctrl-A1? If not, does anyone know
whether it understands some standard Sony Amp IR commands? I've
tried the ampir.cde, but with no response I can't be sure whether
its because it can't work or because I'm doing it wrong.
