CDJ needs to see all of the CDs at least once. There's much more to it than simply assigning names to slots as Sony has done. CDJ keeps track of your discs by timecode, so it needs to load them to be able to identify them uniquely. The information in CDDB is much more than the 13 characters you might have typed in already, and the time to download the information is small. The time to load all of the CDs once can be a hour or two, but at least you don't have to be around while it happens. Choose to queue the discs for later lookup if you don't want to go out to the internet as you go, and then you can do the CDDB lookup later by using the "lookup queued" button on the same dialog. The text transfer features aren't meant to replace the CDDB info, they are to allow you to easily generate memos for the player. Once you have ID'd the discs you can transfer your existing memos into the library so that if you ever download them again, it will use you existing memos instead of computer generated ones.
