The 5-LED transmitter used by the Slink-e IS quite powerful. If you are having problems with your distribution systme you might try doing something liek re-oreinting the TX to reduce the signal.
You definitely need to put a series resisitor in before trying a single LED on the Slinke TX port. Take a look at the following link:
