Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #4 Alternative IR emitter??Posted By: Dan Butterfield <dan@b...> The Slink-e IR transmitter has 5 IR emitter LED's on it - see http://www.nirvis.com/images/ir/tx%20module.jpg (I have an older pre-modular one, but it still has 5 LED's). I have all my IR sending devices (a 3025 ChannelPlus video modulator with built-in multi-room IR routing, a TV with an IR sender, and the Slink-e) in an enclosed box pointing at an IR receiver for a a HotLink (see http://www.hot-link.com ) audio cabinet IR routing device. I've had problems with the Slink-e IR not being consistently recognized by my A/V devices. Since the HotLink amplifies received IR quite a bit, it occurred to me if the Slink-e 5 LED emitter was sending the IR very bright to start with, this might be swamping the HotLink or the device IR receivers. I have a number of other IR emitters from various devices (extras for TV, some for VCR "cable mice", etc) with 1/8" mono plugs that just have single IR LED emitters. Can I just try one of these instead of the SLink-e 5 LED emitter? The Slink-e won't burn out a single LED, will it? Is there any other way to "dim" the IR emitted by the Slink-e?
