New slinkserv fails to start..

I recently upgraded to the latest version of CDJ and discovered that slinkeserv
is not starting... It seems to just hang forever, causing CDJ to be very upset when it tries to start it. The only change I've made to my system recently was the addition of a USB mouse, replacing the PS/2 mouse... I just back-revved CDJ and everything works again, so I'm not thinking the USB drivers being in use is making a difference. There are no resource conflicts, and everything seems fine running the older version of slinkeserv. I'm running win98.
