I've modified all of the players to have digital (optical) outputs. One of
my computers has a sound chip with digital I/O built onto the motherboard.
I just took the TTL levels and build a optical rx/tx and coax rx/tx pair.
All of the outputs go to a digital audio crosspoint / mux switch I built
and then to the Crystal Semi 4390 DAC, the MD and DAT recorders, and the
digital input of the PC. I don't own one, but the Soundblaster Live has
Digital I/O and costs only $99. I've been planning a series of data integrity / loopback tests for my sound card and my CDR software to see if the digital data is really making its way around verbatim.
