Thanks for your help. Unfortunately Tivo never did anything to solve their problem and my friend had to return the Tivo. I would have thought that not being able to talk to digital broadband cable users in a city of about a million people (Jacksonville, Fl) would be a problem for Tivo.

They claim only one or two other people from Jacksonville have had to send their Tivo's back because of this problem. If so, I think they have a bigger problem - market penetration.

(of course I have no idea of knowing the percentage breakdowns between Jacksonville AT&T Broadband analog vs digital versus plain old cable users.
