If you combine a Slinke, a Tivo player, and homeseer (www.homeseer.com) you can get rid of your subscription to Tivo service and do it yourself. Homeseer allows you to write your own scripts for controlling devices. People have written many TV scripts which download listings from the net, and then enable Homeseer to take action based on these.
You can then write your own searching and learning program, and taylor it to your taste even better. Look at the homeseer web page for details... some sample scripts are provided.
