Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #1 Re: CDJ Library format and GroupingPosted By: Colby Boles <cboles@s...> In Response To: CDJ Library format and Grouping (Jim Varrone)
Hi Jim- The library conforms to the CDDB standard which is unlike any standard database format. You can read about it at the URL below. The "No Group" you see in the Ratings Window is related to the group file system on the CD player itself. If the player is capable and you allow it, CDJ will download the group names from the player and add it here. It is basically a "read-only" feature since I haven't found a way to write this back to the player (other than using IR). Since the Slink-e 2.0 and beyond are capable of sending "IR" via S-Link (which is much more reliable) I will be exploring using this technique to set group files on the player, enter titling on players which don't accept S-Link commands and other things. I'm planning on overhauling the UI to get rid of the many child windows and simplify the interface. I will providing multiple views of your music collection (e.g. All discs, all tracks, within a certain grouping, or from search results). At that point you could print any one of those out.
