What to do with Audio Outputs from several players ?

Anyone have any suggestions / thoughts on how you combine the
audio outputs of say 12 or 24 CD players ?. Can they just be
connected together or do you need some type of 'multiple input
to one' device. Any recommendations on sources for such a device.
