That's correct the CDP-CX250 is a 1996 model.. The CDP-CX240 came out in 06/98 so it's new this year.
My last message got garbled in places because some wise software removed all of my blanks... so i'll try this again..
In 1996 the following models came out (CDP-CX200, CDP-CX250, CDP-CX270 and CDP-CX90ES). In 1997 the following came out (CDP-CX205, CDP-CX255 CDP-CX70ES and the CDP-CX270 was held over). In 1998 the following were released (CDP-CX210, CDP-CX220, CDP-CX240, CDP-CX260 and again the CDP-CX270 was held over). I just learned that there was/is a CDP-CX88ES as well.
The CDP-CX240 features are listed as (Filter Digital (8x), Fader Fixed, D/A Converter 4).
The CDP-CX260 features are listed as (Filter Digital (FFF), Fader Cross, D/A Converter Pulse (Hybrid))
