Turn Off Mode Reporting

Is it possible to turn off the mode reporting? I have two Sony changers a cdp-cx260 and a cdp-cx333es They are hooked up master/slave with the cdp-cx333es as the master. It works except the cdp-cx260 keeps sending mode commands and it Interferes with the time reporting on the cdp-cx260. I think it would work great if I could disable that mode command. I know you can enable it by sending sl0:mode how do you shut it off? Any help appreciated !!
