It is still stored in the database the same way it used to be - as a space delimited text string. Inside CDJ the words are parsed out into a list of all used keywords. A set of additional default keywords are added to that from a registry entry. Any kewords you add or delete will be remembered even if nothing uses that keyword. When you multiple-select things, the keywords are cool because they also show you when some of the things have the word and some don't, and then you can modify that.
