Auto scaning of Changers

Here some quick questions?

Why/How do I disable the auto scanning of the changers for discs? Every once in a while, the it starts doing a full disc scan. This seems to be a relatively recent thing.

Is there a control to stop it from turning on the CD player when it starts?

And finally not a big deal, but whenever the song changes, it refreshes all the windows causing my place to be lost in the track list.
