Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #8 Re: Dcom No morePosted By: Barry Gordon <bvgordon@d...> In Response To: Re: Dcom No more (Gautam Desai)
I have successfully used it with a dial in capability using the windows dial in server controlling the house automation system from a dial in connection. My next challange is the house LAN firewall. The house LAN has a "firewall" that does NAT (Network Address Translation). Theoretically I know how to make it work, the problem is "in theory, theory and practice are close; however in practice theory and practice are far apart!" The complicating issue is the company firewall where I work. But since I control those I can get help. I will report back periodically as I get successes (or failures). To paraphrase words of Brooks Talley this is one "Cool Tool" (we actually have a core competence at our company in "Cool Toys")
