If you really want to get the "perfect" solution then you can build our little master/slave device at: http://www.nirvis.com/masterslave.htm

You need to have a little bit of electronics capablilty but it works.

If you instead want to unchain them then for manual control you will need to have the changers on seperate ID's so that you can select which you are controlling from the remote. You can also do as you suggested and map universal remote commands to control basic CDJ functions like play/pause/stop/skip. This can be done with our mapping file capabilites.
