Where can I find VCR-like timer software?

I'm wanting to record radio programs from my Sony receiver to my computers hard disc. I would like to be able to program on/off times, as well as different stations. (The software would be able to command an infrared transmitter to beam into the receiver to select AM/FM presets.)

Any leads on things relevant are much appreciated!
