Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #8 Re: New 5/22 cdj betaPosted By: Don Haberek <dhaberek@m...> In Response To: Re: New 5/22 cdj beta (Colby Boles)
This is my reasoning behind the ca:off vs s-link:off. When I type cdsls001:power_off in the slink-e window and send it, then view the log, it shows that the master sends a cdsls003:power_off to the slave. Now when I enter cdsls003:power_off and send it twice, it toggles it first off then back on. Using cdca003:power_off does not cause it to toggle, it remains off no matter how many times I enter it, so I thought I had it figured out. I'm sorry, I should have done more research before posting my message. So I tried these experiments in a map file to see how the slave reacts. When doing this, I was watching how long it took for CDJ to recognize that the power was off before it sent a power_on. If the slave came back on right away, I knew it had been toggled back on by the master. cdsls001:power_off cdsls003:power_off # no good, toggled back on cdca001:power_off cdca003:power_off # no good, toggled back on After looking at the log, my power_off came way before the one sent by the master. So I tried sending mode just as a delay. cdsls001:power_off cdsls003:mode cdsls003:power_off # no good, toggled back on cdca001:power_off cdsls003:mode cdca003:power_off # no good, toggled back on Why not try it again with a little more delay. cdsls001:power_off cdsls003:mode cdsls003:mode cdsls003:power_off # no good, toggled back on cdca001:power_off cdsls003:mode cdsls003:mode cdca003:power_off # THIS SEEMED TO WORK!!! I guess the answer could be found not just in the ca vs s-link but a delay is also needed. CDJ has to send it AFTER the master and use ca to avoid a toggle. Note that I used 003:mode and not 001:mode as a delay, because sending mode to the master delayed it from sending a power off to the slave which of coarse doesn't help. In your posting you said you shut down ID3 then ID2 then ID1, and also said master first? I thought ID1 was the master? Either way, master first was right. Sorry about the length of this message, honestly, I'm just trying to help. I hope there's enough info to point you in the right direction. Later,,,Don
