I agree it would grab a COM port, which is why it should be user selectable, preferably with a toolbar button. Somewhere in the options I envisage a place to select the COM port to use and a checkbox for whether the feature is currently active or is active at startup. If the feature is disabled by the user, then the COM port is released for other applications to use. If another application does try to grab a busy port, the user will get a dialog box from that application saying the resource is in use. They'd have to release the port in CDJ and try again. A bit of an inconvenience maybe, but I would find the auto-mute feature much more useful as I don't plan to use dial-up on the CDJ computer as I have DSL and a home LAN. Prior to getting DSL I had two phone lines, one for voice and one for the computer, so the auto-mute would only have been connected to a modem on the voice line. I have an old 2400 baud modem I could use for this (plus a 9600 and a 28k modem sitting in the closet too!). Thanks for considering the idea. Responses To This Message
