Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #8 Re: Common Problem with Sony Players?Posted By: Dan Herrmann <dhermann@c...> In Response To: Re: Common Problem with Sony Players? (George Mayleben)
I used to have this problem too... What was worse for me is that the Sony CD player indicated the slot was "empty" and fed that info to CDJ. I did some diagnostics, and here's what I came up with - I saw the problem whenever I was using the Pronto-edit software. I don't think it's the software itself, but the fact that I was swapping devices (Slink-E and the Pronto) into the same serial port. I think that the Sony changers "get lost" somehow. I am 100% certain that it isn't a problem with CDJ. Cycling the power works well too... Here's something else I did that may have solved the problem - Don't plug your player into the switched outlet on the back of your reciever. By leaving the CD player plugged in all the time, the problem went away. (Sorry for rambling - it's early). To summarize - try these solutions: 1. Don't swap devices on your serial port - if you do, unplug Slinke first 2. Keep the power on to the CD players by not plugging them into your reciever. Let me know if this does the trick.... I know it's frustrating, but I don't get the problem anymore.
