I am reading around and hearing of a "improved" version now shipping that lacks the ide port on the motherboard. I can't believe how big this has gotten, the Orange County Register ran a front page article last week about people hacking the systems. It's too bad the New York Times picked up on the intital hack (it didn't help that they made a website out of it) because there is no way the netpliance is not going to respond with either forced contracts (they do it for cell phones) or modified hardware. The news of this hack spread almost as fast as when it came out that in California you could get one of those $400 rebates from Best Buy for MSN and then walk outside and call them and cancel keeping the $400. Micrsoft reponded instantly, I'm suprised it has taken this long for netpliance. I'd kill for a $99 flat screen computer system, but I canceled my Circuit City order knowing full well that I won't get mine at least before the changes. Good luck to everyone else still trying and I would love to buy one off you if you get extras.
