Is the slink-e light turning orange when you plug the DXS in? What about the cable you are using to connect them? Some cable have a tip/shaft which is to long and causes the S-Link input to be connected to grounf whne plugged into the Slink-e (also causing an orange light condition). I have seen a couple of instances where the slink-e needs to be rebooted after plugging in the DXS, due to a glitch caused by different ground initial potentials.
