CDJ and IR

I just started using my Slink-e's IR capability in earnest because I moved all the equipment out of the main listening area. I have an IR receiver on IR port 1 and an emitter on the base port 0.

Everything works great most of the time. However, it seems that eventually the IR stops being repeated. Sometimes all devices, sometimes just some. When it's just some, one that seems to continue to work is my receiver which has an IR device file. The others either have an IRTXONLY or no device file. If I quit CDJ and restart it, all the IR starts working again.

Clearly this not an acceptable solution. The IR has to pass through all the time the rest of the family will be all over me. Any ideas? (And yes, the cables are right, I've double-checked them about 100 times!)
