We could no longer live without it. It takes in both basic cable and DSS and records beautifully. Best part, It always knows what time it is!!! We have gotten to the point that we would rather watch it "recorded" than live, that way we skip through the commercials (just what the broadcasters are afraid of). We are discussing getting another one just because of things like Monday night at 9 PM (Aly McBeal vs Law and Order special unit).

I get some bad recording on some cable channels which appear to have some interesting noise/artifacts, yet no problem when viewed directly via a tuner.
