Yes. The SCMS (Serial Copy Management System) will allow one digital transfer (for example from CD to DAT or MD) but after the first digital transfer the next copy may only be analog.
You can only copy digitaly after the fitst digital generation on professional equipment or if you have a little device that removes the copy prohibit bit.
