Suggest starting the server Slinke-X before you start your development environment. That way it will not constantly load but will remain loaded all of the time.
If you are delaing with VB (as i assume you are) then click on the form that has the slinke control and go to the propertylist. Select slinkX or whatever you called it from the property list and the control will become selected on the form
