I, like you, was 'stuck' about sourcing a mixer. I too was just about to spend $180 on a commerial audio mixer - finally I decided to try Colby suggestion ... I went to Radio Shack today and brought: a soldering iron, solder, an 'octal' phono jack (8 phono jacks mounted on a board), 10 2.2K resistors, a plastic box, Total cost = $12.56

I have soldered before (10 years ago) but I am not 'technical'. It took me an hour to make the passive mixer. Plugged it in - sounds fine. Sound levels seems the same between the players (luckly).

And now I own a soldering iron!!
