Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #5 Re: CablesPosted By: Justin Gillis <justingillis@c...> In Response To: Re: Cables (Todd Brooks)
This subject has been covered repeatedly on the BBS (most recently this spring) and a vast library of information should be available through the archive. Basically, there is no pinout...the order in which you connect the pins to the CAT5 cable does not matter. What matters is consistency. If pin 1 is connected to the red wire on one end, it should be connected to the red wire on the other hand, and so forth. This *is* a bit trickier than it seems because the pin numbers of the M adapter are not quite a mirror image of the pin config. on the F adapter. However, every pin is numbered with a tiny little number on the plastic shell. Get a magnifying glass and just make sure you are wiring the whole deal "straight through" -- pin 1 connects to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, and so forth. The eight wires in a CAT5 cable are more than enough to do the job. Somewhere, Colby has documentation about which pins you can ignore. That too has been covered repeatedly on the BBS and should be on the archive.
