Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #5 Re: Windows 2000Posted By: Jonathan Young <Jon.Young@c...> In Response To: Re: Windows 2000 (Colby Boles)
Running locally using slink-x works on all boxes. Don't know if I should be able to tell it to run on a remote box and specify the local machine, but that doesn't work anyway. I thought it would be a proof that the DCOM setup was working, but I'm not so sure now! If I start slink-x first for this test it sets the flag in the DCOM properties to run locally as well, so I'm not surprised to see it work because it just reverts to a local server. I downloaded the latest version and tried it, but no different. I upgraded my win95 machine to give me two win98 machines one for client and one for server, giving common ground for the test, so the only W2K bit is the domain server. I got the typical win98 error as per previous post. Trying to start client on the W2K server with slink-x on a win98 box gives the win98 error on client and no sign of slink-x starting. If I have slink-x running already, it fails to register the client's attempt to connect, slink-x on w2k does register the client connection ... then crashes.
