In Response To: Re: Redundant CDDB codes?! What to do? (Colby Boles)

Colby, I tried to explain my situation in an email several weeks ago, but in my case Elton John ID on CDDB is 7E0A8E0A and Patti LaBelle is 7C0A8B0A. When I was first cataloging, it seemed to find LaBelle first and then when it looked at Elton John it said I had dublicates and to remove the first CD. If I try to put in LaBelle it recognizes it as Elton John and moves the DB listing from where the Elton John disc really is over to where the LaBelle disc is. When I first noticed this I tried using WinAmp to check CDDB. It had similar results. If I played E.J. first it identified it ok. Then when I played P.L. it said it was E.J. until I manually forced a new searce on CDDB which it would then come up and say that there was a similar listing and allowed me to select the correct CD. This is how I know the ID #'s are different but similar. It seems it has a problem distinguishing between letters that sound alike. C-E & B-E. I know that really isn't the case. Both CD's have 10 tracks. E.J. first track time is 5:12 and P.L. first track time is 5:20. Thanks for looking into this weird problem. TK
