Absolutely. But if anyone tries to bust me for listening to my own CDs from work, it's gonna be a press bonanza.

My intent, at least, is not to set up a "free music here" web page. I travel a lot, and it would be nice to have access to my collection from the road, especially with the appearance of T1 speeds at hotels.

There are licensing issues here, of course. For instance, if a friend comes over to my place and listens to music with me, that's clearly legal. What about if I go to their place and we play a stream from my house over their stereo? That's not so clear.

For recreational use, I refuse to worry about it. I listen to enough tiny bands that I am not about to let a friend (or anyone) use my setup to avoid buying a CD. I want to see the bands I like make some money, after all.

Would the record companies see it the same way? Probably not. But they've got have their hands full with the egregious copyright issues with ShoutCast, etc. at the moment.
