I have exactly the above set up. It's not that hard, just lots of crazy text files as you put it so eloquently. I'll try to post a tutorial to explain it step by step, but I'm out all weekend so it may take a while. In the meantime, it's cheap, so get a CM-11, an RF receiver, and the free motion xmitter & keychain while the deal's going.

PS--keep in mind that X10 has new "incredible" sales every 2-3 days, so don't sweat it too much if you miss one.
