Slink-e / CDJ Discussion Archive #4 Re: Integrating a Pronto and SlinkePosted By: Barry Gordon <bvgordon@d...> In Response To: Integrating a Pronto and Slinke (Larry Vale)
I did the posting. I use a pronto to completely control a PC program written in VB. The PC program deals with the Slink via the automation interface. CDJ is running in the background minimized. The PC controls the entire home theater (all components, and lighting) and the CD player which feeds 4 zones in the house plus the theater if we just want to listen to good music. Two of the Pronto screens now control the CD mega changer via CDJ. It can start CDJ (wake up), display a list of my CD's by title or by playlist title on the PC screen in 36 point type (standard VB drop down list), and allow you to select the items you want to have CDJ play I am not using the IR interface of the Slink at this time as my PC has its own IR driver board, But I have tested it and I can send IR via the Slink. My wife loves it as she now has a very simple interface to the CD system to select any disk or disks or her playlists which I made up for her. Naturally the pC is dedicated to the Home theater controol function and is always on. It automatically restarts on power loss and resets itself. If you want more details drop me an email at bvgordon.digital.net. Eventually I hope to convince Colby to adapt CDJ to control the new Sony 200 disk DVD player due out in September.
